Truce is pre-launch, so there is no queue and no ticket system — messages go to a person. Below are the questions that come up most, then how to reach us and how to report something.

Getting started

How does a trip actually start?

One person creates it and invites the others by username or a share link. Whoever creates it is the organiser; they can promote anyone else to co-organiser, or hand ownership over entirely.

What if we have not agreed on dates yet?

Create the trip with dates undecided. You get a Doodle-style poll where the organiser proposes date ranges and everyone marks themselves available or not. When a range wins, the organiser confirms it and the rest of the app unlocks.

How many people can be on a trip?

There is no cap and no per-seat charge. In practice Truce is built for the three-to-ten range, which is where group planning actually breaks down.

Voting and planning

What stops one person just deciding everything?

The vote does. Winners are whatever scored highest when the window closed. Organisers get administrative powers — inviting, removing, setting the rules — but no extra weight in a ballot.

What happens if a vote ties?

If three or more options are tied, the block reopens for 24 hours as a runoff between the leaders, with the round-one votes carried over. A genuine two-way deadlock is settled by a wheel spin that picks at random, so the oldest nomination does not quietly win every time.

Can we discuss things without leaving the app?

Every decision has its own comment thread, attached to the decision rather than to a general chat. The thread survives the vote, so when something is on the plan you can still see why it was chosen.

Money

How does the ledger decide who owes what?

Whoever books something fronts the cost, and their share of it is recorded against everyone it covers. Balances are netted pairwise, so if you owe someone £40 and they owe you £15, you see one £25 debt rather than two entries.

Someone joined halfway through — do they owe for everything?

No. Each booking freezes its split at the moment it was made, so a late joiner is not retroactively charged for things they were never part of. If they should be included, anyone who can edit the expense can add them explicitly.

Can we log costs in a different currency?

Yes. Enter the amount you actually paid and it converts into the trip currency on the way in. On a Pro trip the exchange rate is fetched live; otherwise you type it.

Your account and data

How do I delete my account?

From the app: Settings, then Delete account. It removes your profile, your uploads, your notifications and your saved payment handles.

What happens to the group ledger if I delete my account?

Your identity is removed but the group’s financial record is not destroyed. An expense you paid for still shows as paid, attributed to a former member. Deleting your data should not silently wipe everyone else’s record of who paid for dinner.

Can I get a copy of my data?

Yes — Settings, then Download my data, which exports everything held about you as a single file.

I am the only organiser of a trip. Can I still delete my account?

Not until you hand that trip over to someone else, or the trip is gone. Otherwise the group would be left with a trip nobody can administer.

Reporting content or a person

Truce carries content people create — photos, vote notes, poll questions, packing items, usernames. If something crosses a line, report it.

From inside the app

  • Long-press a comment and choose Report.
  • Open a photo in the album and choose Report.
  • Open the trip's settings and use the flag beside a member to report or block them.

What happens then

Reports come straight to us with the reported item attached. We review every one and act within 24 hours — usually that means removing the content, and it can mean removing the person from the trip or the account entirely.

Blocking

Blocking someone stops them inviting you to anything, ever. It does not hide their existing entries in a trip you are both on, because doing so would corrupt the shared ledger for everyone else — if you no longer want to be in a trip with someone, leave the trip. You can unblock from Settings.

You can also report by email if you would rather not do it in the app: trucetravelapp@gmail.com.
